Hyena Pan

Hyena Pan offers brilliant value for money and an all-round fantastic safari in a private concession. Spend an afternoon in the ground level hide, a favourite amongst photographers, and capture some shots that you’ll remember for life. Located next to the only permanent source of water for miles around (a magnet for wildlife – elephant in particular), you don’t even need to leave the comfort of your room for top-notch wildlife-watching. Game drive across the dry plains and along the Khwai River, and keep your binoculars at the ready for predators, majestic elephant, buffalo, and hordes of plains game.

Location

Hyena Pan is in the Khwai Private Reserve, which borders Moremi Game Reserve, the Khwai River and Chobe National Park and is considered one of Botswana’s best game viewing areas. Located in the interior of the 200,000-hectare Khwai Private Reserve.

Seasons

JANUARY – MARCH: Summer You can expect high rainfall and high temperatures so pack accordingly! Highs range from 35°C to 45°C whilst it can fall to around 18°C at night and after heavy thunderstorms.

APRIL – MAY: Autumn It’s starting to get drier now and rainfall is less. Expect dry and warm days with cool evenings and mornings.

JUNE–AUGUST: Winter There is generally no rainfall during the winter months, but you can expect colder nights and early mornings. The days however are sunny and generally warm. Temperatures range from 15°C to 30°C, but at night, it can drop below freezing in some areas.

SEPTEMBER–OCTOBER: Spring As the season progresses, the days become drier and warmer. October can be extremely hot with temperatures reaching 40°C in the middle of the day.

NOVEMBER–DECEMBER: Summer As the summer months return, expect rainfall and high temperatures. The highs range from 35°C to 45°C, whilst the lows can reach around 18°C.

Accommodation

With only eight, recently upgraded tents, the camp is intimate, comfortable, and welcoming.
