Botswana, with an area of 500 000 square kilometres is larger than France. Two-Thirds of it is covered by the grassy thornybush covered sands of the Kalahari. Man has lived in Botswana for at least 500 000years. Years ago the Bushmen came and had the plains to themselves until about the 4th century when the Shona-speaking groups of the Kgalagadi people began filtering into Botswana from Zimbabwe. The main attraction into Botswana is The Chobe National park in Kasane well known of it’s vast heards of Elephants. The Okavango delta & Moremi Game Reserve known known for its sprawling grassy plains, which flood seasonally, becoming a lush animal habitat. The Moremi Game Reserve occupies the east and central areas of the region. Here, Mokoros are used to navigate past hippos, elephants and crocodiles. On dry land, wildlife includes lions, leopards, giraffes and rhinos.
