The Lodge is located 6.5 km just outside of Oudtshoorn, the Ostrich capital of the world. The lodge is situated only 300 metres from the tar road leading to the Cango Caves.
The main lodge area is right next to a 5ha waterhole, filled with big fish, turtles and hippo. From the wooden deck that surrounds the lodge area, you can see our elephants walking, our hippo and fish in the water as well as other game grazing on the opposite bank. If you are lucky you will even spot the fish eagle catching his daily meal. We have a wide variety of activities such as Bush Safaris & Elephant Feeding & Brushing and Walking.
Location
Along the Route 62 halfway between Cape Town & Port Elizabeth is the town of Oudtshoorn (Ostrich Capital of the world). It is a Malaria free area and one of the most famous tourist destinations in South Africa. Buffelsdrift Game Lodge is situated only 6.5 km from Oudtshoorn on route to the world-famous Cango Caves.

Luxury Waterhole (9units)
Experience true “African” style waterhole accommodation in Oudtshoorn. Our accommodation (waterhole tents) are perfect for those who enjoy the closeness of the water’s edge. The sundeck on each waterhole tent overlaps the water’s edge and is the ideal spot to relax during your stay with us. Enjoy sundowners on the deck whilst viewing our free-roaming animals in the water and surrounding banks.
Luxury Horizon View (20 units)
The luxury tents are set only a few metres away from the waterhole and provide an elevated view of the surroundings. They also have great views over the whole lodge area and is surrounded by true Karoo fynbos.
Luxury Family (5 units)
The Family units have a spacious main room and a children’s room with a shared en-suite bathroom separating the rooms. These units can accommodate a family of up to 5 people. The family tents provide an elevated view of the surroundings and Swartberg Mountains and is in walking distance of the 5 hectare waterhole. True Karoo fynbos and bushveld surrounds these tents, creating an authentic bushveld experience. One might even be lucky enough to spot wildlife in the distance.
